PURPOSE: To enlarge the use range of semiconductor laser beam with utilizing the feature of it efficiently by converting semiconductor laser beam, which extends at a peculiar angle, to a square or a circle by a cylindrical lense and further to a minute beam by a condenser lense.
CONSTITUTION: Laser beam 1 which extends at an angle peculiar to semiconductor laser is condensed by the first condenser lense 2, and this flat beam is converted to an approximately square or circular image by cylindrical lenses 3 and 4, which have concaves and convexes respectively, and is focused onto point A. Next, this beam is condensed by condenser lense 5 to be a minute beam and is focused onto point B. Thus, the light beam from semiconductor laser is first extended, and next reduced to be focused. Therefore, the light beam can be condensed into an approximately circular minute spot size, and becomes a light source fit for an optical record ing and reproducing device, etc.
