Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to condense the light beam with high power on the light recording disc surface as fine spot and to always hold the spot on the disc surface, by using two cylindrical lenses.
CONSTITUTION: By coinciding the foci of the concave and convex cylindrical lenses 22, 23, as shown in the point F, the light of the semiconductor laser 11 constituting rectangular light emission form, is converted into almost circular or square parallel light and is led to the objective lens 13. Accordingly, the light beam of high power can be condensed on the surface of the disc 21 as fine spot. Further, since two sets of cylindrical lenses 22, 23 are used to increase the condensing performance of the semiconductor laser, and focus control is made by using the convex lens 24 in the reflection optical path separated from the incident optical path with the beam splitter inserted between the two lenses 22 and 23, enabling to keep constant the distance between the condensing objective lens 13 and the optical recording medium 21.
