PURPOSE: To suppress the occurrence of noises, by varying the density of a friction member in almost one direction of rotation of disc rotor from one side.
CONSTITUTION: The friction member 2 has integrated friction parts 2aW2e different in hardness and juxtaposed in the direction A of rotation of disc rotor. The hardness of the friction member 2 is decreased in stages from the leading side toward the trailing side (rightward in Fig.). The surface pressure is reduced from the leading side toward the trailing side because of the compressibility variation of the friction member 2 in the directin of rotation of disc rotor. The stick slip on the friction surface, which is one of the causes for the noises, is made unlikely to occur. The noises are effectively suppressed from occurring
