Abstract

PURPOSE:To covered superhard alloy part having excellent high temperature characteristic, which is obtained by constituting the covering layer of the superhard alloy part from two layers of inner and outer layers and forming the outer layer with oxidation-resisting Al2O3 or ZrO2 and the inner layer with carbide, nitride, etc. of the transition metal of the IVa, Va or VIa group. CONSTITUTION:The superhard alloy part is placed in the reaction vessel and is heated in the gaseous stream of carbide, carbonitride, nitride or metal of which a part has been replaced with oxygen or boron, so that Ti(BN), etc. is deposited and is made to cover and, further, Ti(Co), etc. is deposited an is made to cover. In this manner, after at least one layer among the inner layers has been formed with carbide or nitride containing B, the part is covered with Al2O3 or ZrO2 in the reaction tube by being cooled.
