Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve easier, stabler and smaller adjustement of photo coupling quantity by containing the photo coupling portion in the specific mount which integrates the relative position adjusting mechanism of a photo element and an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:In a base 12, a photo element chip 11 and electrode terminals 17 are mounted nearly in the center of the recess which is slightly higher than the height of the chip 11 and is of a circular shape about equal to the outside diameter of a rigid sleeve 13. The end part of an optical fiber 14 having a core whose end is fabricated to plane or spherical form is covered and fixed by the sleeve 13, is inserted into an external sleeve 16 and is tentatively fixed by adjust screws 15. The integrated sleeve 16 and base 12 are locked. Next, the sleeve 13 is pushed in untial part of its end makes contact to part of the outside circumferential end of the circular recess of the base 12, by which the core end of the fiber 14 is approached to the chip 11, after which the sleeve is readjusted by the screws 15 so as to optimize photo coupling then fixed. Finally, the screws 15 are permanently fixed by a thermosetting resin such as epoxy resin.
