Abstract

PURPOSE: To positively discriminate the trouble of a pilot wire or the loss of a power source, by detecting difference between the decay time of reflux currents in the case when the pilot wire breaks and the decay time of reflux currents in the case when the power source for monitor losses by means of a current variation detector.
CONSTITUTION: Direct current currents produced by rectifying an alternating current power source 8 by means of a rectifier 10 are let flow back to a pilot wire 13 used for protecting a transmission line 1, the trouble of the pilot wire 13 detected by means of an over-and-under current relay 6 and a current variation detector 17 by the increase and decrease of the currents and an alarm is given. The time difference is detected by means of the current variation detector 17 by utilizing a fact that t2 is larger than t1 in the decay time t1 of reflux currents in the case when the pilot wire 13 breaks and the decay time t2 of reflux currents in the case when the alternating current power source 8 for monitoring the pilot wire losses. Thus, this device can positively monitor trouble because the trouble of the pilot wire 13 or the trouble of the alternating current power source 8 for monitor can easily be discriminated.
