PURPOSE:To rotate a rotary table smoothly without vibration by providing static pressure air bearings to support a rotary table that rotates with the center at a supporting spindle. A cutting tool is installed to this rotary table derectly through a guide table. CONSTITUTION:A roatary table 9 with its center at a supporting spindle 7 is supported by static pressure thrust bearings 11 and 13. A cutting tool 18 is installed to the rotary table 9 directly through a guide table 15. A drive machanism 21 rotates the spindle 7, thus pivoting the rotary table being supported by the static pressure bearing 11 at around the spindle 7, and swinging the cutting tool 18 with no vibration. As a result, a rotating work A supported by a spindle 3 is machined very precisely by the cutting tool 18.
