Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove dust on the surface of fuel cover tube by flowing ice pieces in the cooling water passage of the fuel assembly.
CONSTITUTION: Fine ice pieces from the ice unit 1 and cooling water from the cooling water unit 2 are mixed by the mixer 3, pressurized by the pump 4, and are introduced to the cooling water passage of the fuel assembly 6 through the flow converter 5. The fuel assembly 6 enveloped in the channel box is provided with the passage closing fittings 7, 8 at the outlet of cooling water in the upper and lower ends of the assembly respectively. Dust scraped off by the ice pieces and ice water are led to the ice melting unit 9 through the flow converter 5, mixed with hot water prepared by the hot water unit 10 to melt the ice pieces, and the dust is removed by the filter 12.
