Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a resin molded article having a surface gel coat layer where formation of hair cracks is markedly suppressed, comprising a resin composition containing an unsaturated polyester resin and mica powder.
CONSTITUTION: A resin composition for gel coating is prepared by adding a curing catalyst, an accelerator and further pigments, etc. to an unsaturated polyester resin solution mica powder. The average particle size of the mica powder is preferably 2W20μ. The particles larger than 20μ degrade processability of spray-up, etc. and surface smoothness of the gel coat layer, and the particles smaller than 2μ decrease the suppressing effect on the hair cracking. Lowering of the hot water-strength of the gel coat layer is suppressed, and the thermal expansion coefficient and the dry shrinkage factor are lowered to decrease the thermal stress and the dry shrinkage stress between the interlayer and the back-up layer markedly. The hair cracking is therefore strikingly suppressed.
