Abstract

PURPOSE: To dispense with an expensive coupling condenser by detecting the corona pulse current, which is flowing at the high voltage side of an insulator to be measured, at that high voltage side, by converting the current by means of a light emitting element, by transmitting the converted light to the low voltage side by means of an optical fiber and by converting again the transmitted light into electric signals by means of a light receiving element.
CONSTITUTION: A test voltage source 1 is connected with an insulator 2 to be measured, one terminal of which is grounded to the earth. A corona pulse detector 3 is inserted into the high voltage side of the insulator 2 so that the current detected by the detector is converted into light by means of a light emitting element 4. The optical pulses thus converted are transmitted through an optical fiber cable 5 to the lower voltage side and are converted again into electric signals so that the corona pulses may be measured.
