Abstract
PURPOSE:To detect insulation failure of a power cable being in a hot-line state, with a high S/N ratio, by fetching a corona pulse current flowing to a ground wire by a transformer, removing an external noise by a BPF, and also using an optical fiber for transmitting a signal to an abnormal state indicator. CONSTITUTION:When an insulator of a power cable becomes faulty, a corona pulse current flowing to a ground wire 2 generates a secondary current in a secondary side coil 3b of a transformer 3. When this secondary current passes through a BPF 4 having a band characteristic of 20-100KHz, a corona pulse of a wide band is selected, and it becomes a specific frequency by which a noise of commercial frequency, a noise radio frequency, etc. are small. The corona pulse of this specific frequency is rectified by a rectifying circuit 5 which has bridge-coupled diodes 5a-5d, and drives a light emission diode 6. An optical output from this light emission diode 6 is transmitted by an optical fiber 7, reaches a photodetector 8 installed at a remote place, is converted to an electric signal, and is displayed on a abnormal state indicator 9.
