Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an inorganic corrosion-resistant paint composed of a specific silicate ester binder and corrosion resistant metal powders, and giving a coating film having excellent heat-resistance and adhesivity.
CONSTITUTION: A corrosion resistant paint composed of (A) a specific silicate ester binder having an esterificatin degree of ≤ 1, esp. 0.1W0.6, and (B) powders of corrosion-resistant metal such as Zn, Al, etc. The amount of the metal is selected to give a metal-content in the hardened coating of ≥ 70 wt%, pref. 85W95 wt%. The silicate ester binder is prepared by (1) neutralizing or de-alkalizing an alkali silicate of formula A2O.nSiO2 (A is Na, Li, k, Cs; n is 0.5W5) to afford an aqueous solution of silicic acid having a pH of 1W3 and a concentration of ≤ 3 mole/1, (2) salting out and extracting the silicic acid by adding a polar organic solvent to the aqueous solution, and (3) esterifying the silicic acid by adding a lower alcohol to the silicic acid dissolved in the organic solvent.
