Abstract

PURPOSE:For improving safety and ensuring early finding of gas leakage, to eliminate the possibility of the buckling of an intermediate wall by preventing only tension force, not compression force, from working on the axial force generated by the weight of said intermediate wall and by the friction of a granular insulator. CONSTITUTION:A concrete ring 2 is constructed on a concrete foundation 1, and this double-shell tank is installed with the side plate 5 of the inner tank thereof set up on the marginal secton of the bottom plate 4 thereof and the side plate 6 of the outer tank 6 thereof set up on the upper surface of said foundation 1 with the lower section thereof contacted with the outer-circumferential surface of said concrete ring 2. Further, an intermediate wall 11 is fitted between said inner and outer side plates. Said intermediate wall 11 is made by assembling lightweight steel sheet piles for example and so on and hung on a framework 12 for fastening an outer tank ceiling plate 10 by a bolt 13 and a nut 14 and movably supported by said side plate 6 and a required number of links 22. Further, an inactive gas supply and leak gas detecting pipe 26 is inserted in the annular clearance 25 between said intermediate wall 11 and side plate to ensure finding of gas leakage.
