Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the power factor compensation of a power factor controller from becoming excessive at light load time by so controlling the voltage versus frequency at the output side of a reverse converter that the forward converter lets the reactive power from the power supply constant.
CONSTITUTION: Power is supplied from an AC power supply AC through a forward converter 1 and a reverse converter 3 to an induction motor 4. A comparator 17 obtains the deviation between the detected output of the reactive power detector and the set value from the reactive power instruction circuit by providing a reactive power detector 15 for detecting the reactive power at the input side of the reverse converter 3. The deviation thus obtained is applied to the automatic pulse shifter 10 of the converter 1 to thereby control the voltage versus frequency supplied to an induction motor 4 from the converter 3 to thus set the reactive power at desired value to thereby prevent the power voltage from increasing at light load time.
