Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a reflective plate construction having a heat resistant and weather resistant surface which well transmits light, by applying a silicone resin paint onto a base plate and applying a protective layer of an alkale metal silicate.
CONSTITUTION: A pure silicone resin paint is applied on a base plate 22, and the paint is baked at a temperature of about 200 to 500°C for about 30 minutes to form a prime coat 23. After the baking the thickness of the prime coat will become several microns. On the smoothed surface of the base plate 22 with the prime coat 23 thereon is then coated a reflective layer 24. As the material for the reflective layer 24, use is made of aluminum, nickel, chromium or silver. On the reflective layer 24 is coated a protective layer 25 of an alkali metal silicate. To enforce the strength of the protective layer 25 the following steps will be repeated several times; application of a solution of alkali silicate, preliminary drying, calcination and dealkalization.
