Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a device for sealing a shaft of a rotary machine such as a pump or the like used at the place where water is scattered, which device incorporates lower power loss, an easy maintenance work and can prevent as much introduction of water as possible and dry the introduced water.
CONSTITUTION: In a waterproof type motor, for example, coupled directly with a pump, a shield bearing 5 is engaged with the inner periphery of the bearing seat 4 of a bearing box 3 provided at the inner periphery of the bracket 2 at load side with a small gap g1 provided between the inner periphery of the bearing cover 6 for coating the outside of the bearing 5 and the shaft 7. Communicated grooves 8 are formed at the upper and lower portions of the inner periphery of the seat 4. On the other hand, a drain collar 10 of L shape in cross section is provided at the shaft 7 oppositely in space with the outer end surface of the box 3 with a small gap g2 provided between the end of the collar 10 and box 3 and with a cover 11 provided at the box 3 for enclosing the gap g2. Rotary blades 12 are provided at the inside of the collar 10 for operating exhaust gas pressure to the gaps g1, g2.
