Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Compound of formula - [R1 is 7W17C aliphatic hydrocarbon; X is H or methyl; Y is -CH2CH2- or a group of formula II (R4 is H, 1W4C alkyl, benzyl, etc.); k is 2 or 3; R2 and R3 are H, methyl or -CH2CH2OH].
EXAMPLE: N-Laurolyglutamic acid di(dimethylamino-n-propyl)amide.
USE: Cationic surface-active agent. No skin-irritation and high safety. Excellent permeability, fiber-softening effect, antifungal effect, and preventive effect against pathogenic bacteria of plant blights.
PROCESS: Compound of formula I is obtained by the condensation reaction of a compound of formula III (R5 is 1W4C alkyl) with a compound of formula IV in a solvent such as benzene, if necessary. The reaction is carried out by heating at a temperature above room temperature, preferably between 70°C and the reflux temperature, for 3W10 hr.
