Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform suitable dehydration in accordance with the kind of wash, eliminate extra operation and thereby to shorten the dehydrating time by detecting optically the dehydration degree from the amount of water to be attached to the detecting elements.
CONSTITUTION: At the initial stage of dehydration, the water contained in the wash scatters due to the rotation of the dehydration tank to attach to the reflecting surfaces 15 of a plurality of detecting elements provided vertically along the washing tank wall. The reflecting surfaces 15 become transparent and therefore the reflection of the light emitted by the light emitting element 13 is extremely reduced or eliminated. As a result, input into the light receiving element 14 is also extremely reduced or eliminated, which results in the reduction of the emitter current and the resistance voltage of the phototransistor and further in the reduction of the input into the A/D converter. In this condition, the dehydrating operation continues. If the water scattering from upward is reduced gradually with the progress of dehydration, the input into the light receiving element 14 is increased. The input into the A/D converter is also increased and detection of the dehydration degree is performed on the base of the increase of the input therein. When the dehydration is completed, the output from the converter stops the motor.
