Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the receiving and giving of developer between front and rear stage developer carriers by moving the front stage developer carrier faster than the moving speed of an electrostatic image holding member and moving the rear stage developer carrier slower.
CONSTITUTION: As sleeves 22A, 22B rotate in synchronization to the rotation of an electrostatic image carier 1, the developer first depostis on the sleeve 22B by the magnetic force of the magnetic pole N1 of a magnetic means 23B and the quantity of deposition is evened by a defining plate 30. When it reaches the magnetic pole S1 position, it is attracted to the sleeve 22A side by the magnetic force of the magnetic pole N2. The developer absorbed rotates together with the sleeve 22A and forms a magnetic brush in the position of the magnetic pole N3, thus turning the electrostatic images of the carrier 1 to sensible images. Next, when the developer approaches to the sleeve 22B side owing to the rotation of the sleeve 22A, it is moved to the sleeve 22B side by the magnetic pole S3 of its magnetic means.
