Abstract

PURPOSE: An absorptiometry is used to measure effective bromine contained in aqueous solution in which odor material has been treated by decomposition. According to the resulted data, the amount of adding hypochlorite for regenerating aqueous solution is controlled, thus reducing electrolytic power consumption for hypochlorite production.
CONSTITUTION: Into the reactor 1, aqueous treating solution 2 which contains hypochlorite (acid) (e.g. NaBrO) is admitted from the upper portion, and from the bottom waste gas to be treated which contains oxidizable odor material is admitted. Both are contacted each other in the reactor 1 and discharged from the top. Meanwhile, a portion of treating liquid is introduced from the circulation tank 2 to the electrolytic bath 5 where water slouble chlorine material (NaCl) is electrolyzed producing hypochlorite (acid) (e.g.NaClO). The produced hypochlorite oxidises and reactivates deactivated bromine modified material (NaBr) present in the treating solution. The treated solution is returned to the tank 2, from which a part of the solution is sent through the filter 8 to the absorptiometry device 9 for measurement. The measured value is converted by the converter 10, and its signal is transmitted to the bath 5 so that the amount of effective chlorate acid to be produced is properly controlled.
