Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce size and prolong displacement detection length by providing a shortcircuit ring and a first coil as well as differentially wound second coils to a square yoke forming a closed magnetic circuit and drawing out the displacement of the shorticircuit ring as an electric signal.
CONSTITUTION: A shortcircuit ring 2 is freely fitted to one side 1a of a yoke 1 and a first coil 3 is povided to its side 1b. Further, respectively differentially wound coils 4a, 4b are provided to the sides 1c, 1d. An AC constant current source 5 for AC excitation is connected to the first coil 3 and the outpt of the second coil 4 is drawn out from terminal 7 via synchronous rectifier circuit 6. Hence, if the coil 3 is AC-excited and the shortcircuit ring 2 is displaced according to the displacement quantity to be measured, then the output voltage generated in the coil 4 linearly changes according to the displacement of the shortcircuit ring 2 and therefore, by synchronousely rectifying this, the superior linearity may be obtained between relatively long displacement detection distances.
