Abstract

PURPOSE: The heated and undrawn tube moving between two sets of nip rollers is slit upward near the downstream nip rollers and compressed air is blown into the tube from the slit, thus stretching safely and steadily the tube.
CONSTITUTION: The heated and undrawn tube, coming out of the upstream nip rollers, is taken up with the downstream nip rollers and at the same time the tube is stretched in the longitudinal direction, in which cutter edge 7 is stricked into the tube to form slit, from which a compressed air is blown into using nozzle 8. The cutter edge is preferably united with nozzle. The top of the nozzle is positioned so as not to project higher than the top of the edge. The volume of the compressed air fed is required to be more than that leaking from the slit. When the diameter of stretched tube fluctuates, the position of the cutter edge is automatically controlled by the operation of defletor 9.
