Abstract

PURPOSE:To form uniform and strong sprayed layer, by, in forming sprayed layer by spraying refractory material to a damaged place on the fire bricks of an iron- or steel-making furnace, reducing the wt. ratio of refractory powder to spraying gas not larger than 8. CONSTITUTION:In repair of damaged part of refractory lining of an iron- or steel- making furnace, powder of refractory material is sprayed from a burner together with fuel gas. The refractory powder melts instantly with high-temp. combustion gas and deposits on the damaged part to form strong sprayed layer of refractory material. Mixing ratio, by wt., of the refractory material powder to the fuel gas not larger than 8 makes uniform the dispersion of the refractory material powder in the flame of the burner, causing the refractory material to melt completely to form sprayed layer excellent in fire resistance.
