Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the accuracy of frosting detection for preventing the increase of the number of times and the time of frosting by counting pulses to be given at unit intervals when the thermal relation between an evaporator and the atmospheric air satisfies a certain relation and giving a defrosting instruction by the output of that counting.
CONSTITUTION: When frosting is given during a heating operation, detected temperatures in an evaporation thermal sensor 12 and an open air thermal sensor 13 are input into a microprocessor 22 for computation and discrimination, and when both temperatures satisfy a certain relation, the output is changed into pulses with unit intervals. When the number of the counting is risen to a fixed value, an auxiliary electric heater 9 is electrified for setting a three-minutes timer. After three minutes, the current to a relay 39 is intercepted for obtaining a cooling cycle, and defrosting is started in a thermal source side heat exchanger 5. Simultaneously, a relay 37 is excited to give an ultra-low-speed operation to a use side fan motor, while a thermal source side fan motor FM0 is stopped for setting a ten-minutes timer. When the pipe temperature in the thermal source side heat exchanger 5 is risen over about 10 degrees C., the defrosting is completed, and a defrosting stop signal is given for restarting a heating operation.
