Abstract

PURPOSE: To change the shut-off time of secondary air depending on the warming- up condition of an engine, by providing a passage which connects a second diaphragm chamber to a first diaphragm chamber into which the negative pressure of the intake pipe of the engine is introduced.
CONSTITUTION: A first orifice passage 33 always connects the first diaphragm chamber 28 and the second diaphragm chamber 30 to each other. A second orifice passage 34 is selectively opened or closed by a bimetal disc 35. When the temperature of the enine is low, the bimetal disc 35 is in pressural contact with an O-ring 37 so that the second orifice passage 34 is closed. When the temperature of the engine is higher than a predetermined level, the bimetal disc 35 is out of contact with the O-ring 37 so that the second orifice passage 34 is opened. Therefore, the opening and closing of a secondary air control valve is affected by the temperature. The shut-off time of secondary air during the deceleration of the engine is shortened according as the temperature of the engine rises.
