Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve fuel original unit by using rhe total fuel flow rate in the furnace as an evaluation function, obtaining the furnace temperature pattern which minimizes this and outputting the same as the optimum set temperatur of a furnace temperature control unit in the multizone type heating furnace of steel slabs, etc.
CONSTITUTION: Steel slabs are heated in a 3 zone type continuous heating furnace 1 consisting of a preheating zone I, heating zone II and soaking zone III. The furnace temperature pattern based on the heating characteistics of the zones I thru III is set in a furnace temperature pattern generating part 7. Whether this set value is an optimum value or not is judged in a judgement part 9 and the furnace temperature pattern judged to be optimum is outputted via furnace temperature setting output part 10 to furnace temperature control units 5a thru 5c. The control units control the fuel flow control units 4a thru 4c of the furnace zones I thru III, thereby optimizing the burning on the burners 3a thru 3c of the respective furnace zones. The temperature of the respective furnace zones are detected with detecting gauges 2a thru 2c and are fed back by the furnace temperature control units 5a thru 5c, whereby the respective furnace zones are always kept at the optimum furnace temperature pattern. In this way, the steel slabs may be heated to the working temperature with good fuel efficiency.
