Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an insulator having excellent heat-resistance and no blowing, by spraying a binder composed of boric acid and zinc oxide on a insulative basic material then after performing thermal processing pressure molding under specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of insulative basic materials (for example, glass fiber cloth, ceramic fiber cloth, asbestos cloth, rock wool cloth, etc.) sprayed with a binder composed of a powder mixed with boric acid and zinc oxide are laminated. Wt% of boric acid and zinc oxide are 80W30, 20W70, while wt% of basic material and the binder are 30W70, 70W30. The said laminated basic material is heated more than three hours under 140W175°C and again heated more than 1 hour under 180W200°C to bring the positive boric acid to anydrous boric acid. Then it is heated under 300W350°C and molded with pressure of 100W300kg/cm2 to produce an electric insulator. When aging said electric insulator more than two hours under 300°C the water-proof performance is further improved.
