Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate need of a cylinder-number selection switch and free from unrecommended-use-causing engine injury by incorporating a unit which automatically determines number of cylinders from a top dead center signal and an ignition coil intermittent signal needed to measure and control ignition timing. CONSTITUTION:A counter 305 repeats to count time signals of a period required by one engine revolurion. The result of the count is ratched by D-type ratches 306 to 308 and the result corresponding to the period T is ratched by D-type ratches 309 to 311. A microprocessor 312 processes a main program immediately after power is on. Next, COUNT ''0'' is a variable of the memories 313 to 320 to count pulses, one of which is put out for one revolution. COUNT ''1'' is a variable of the memories 313 to 320 to count ignition coil intermittent signals. Cylinder number is determined by the microprocessor 312.
