CONSTITUTION:Parent material for optical fiber 1 is held with chuck 2 and gradually inserted from the one end into electric furnace 3 and melt spun into fibers with prescribed thickness. Optical fiber spun 4 is continuously taken up with drum 6. Meanwhile, the surface of the optical fiber is coated with a plastic at plastic coater 7 and the plastic is dried in electric furnace 8. Although the optical fiber is naked from the furnace to the plastic coater, it is sealed in the pipe 10, thus being kept from the open air.
