Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the chromaticity and COD of treated water, by passing air or the like through a waste sulfide solution containing an organic substance to oxidize the solution until the reaction of sulfide vanishes and thereafter making the solution acid by sulfuric acid and separating sulfur and the organic substance and neutralizing the solution and treating the solution with hypochlorite.
CONSTITUTION: Air or oxygen is blown into the waste sulfide solution containing the organic substance as in the manufacture of dye or medicine to oxidize the solution until the reaction of sulfide vanishes. The sulfuric acid is then added to the solution so that it becomes acid. Thiosulfate in the waste solution is decomposed and the sulfur produced is sedimented together with the colored organic substance. Sulfur dioxide is separated from the reaction system. The treated water is neutralized by NaOH or the like. The treated water is then supplied with air, oxygen or ozone for oxidation if necessary. The treated water is treated further with hypochlorite. As a result, the transparency of the treated water is raised, COD is reduced and this water can be drained as it is.
