Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the iron loss, magnetic flux density, etc. of silicon steel plates by using MgO mixed with a specific amt. of TiO2, SiO2 and a B cpd. as a protective coating material in annealing of the plates. CONSTITUTION:Anisotropic silicon steel plates as transformer material are annealed to carry out secondary recrystallization and remove impurities. In order to avoid fusion of the plates in annealing, the plate surfaces are coated with a protective coating material obtd. by suspending MgO, in water, mixed with TiO2; 1-10% and SiO2; 1-10% or further mixed with a B cpd.; 0.01 - 0.5% as B. The amt. of the material coated is 10-20 g/m<2>. The coated plates are dried at 200-500 deg.C and coiled. The plate coils are finish annealed at 1100-1300 deg.C. By the reaction of the coating material with the plates, glassy films are formed to provide large tensile stress, thereby remarkably enhancing the iron loss and magnetic flux density of the plates.
