Abstract

PURPOSE:The invention relates to a composite amorphous alloy having two step hysteresis characteristic which is provided by connecting a first and a second amorphous alloy layers having ferromagnetism and a different coercive forces. CONSTITUTION:A first and a second amorphous alloy layers having ferromagnetism and a different coercive forces are connected to provide a composite amorphous alloy having two step hystresis characteristics suitable for memory elements, miniature crossbar switches. The first and second amorphous alloy layers are selected from compositions of the formula T1-aXa (wherein T is Fe and Co replaced one kind or part thereof with 70 atomic % or less of Ni; X is P, C, and B replaced one kind or part thereof replaced with 25 atomic % or less of Si and 10 atomic % or less of Al; a is 15 to 35 atomic %). When T=Fe+Co, the above formula provides (Fe1-b Cob)1-aXa, in which the first and the second amorpous alloy layers are given by b<=0.6 and b>=0.7, respectively. Further, Co is partly replaced with a total of 10 atomc % or less of one or more of Cr, Mo, W, V, Nb, Ta.
