Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the groove corrosion resistance, and to make good the surface characteristics, by heating to melt into suitable depth the electric welded zone and its neighborhood from inside and/or outside of the pipe, after the electric welding is finished, on purpose to treat the electric welded zone for improving the groove corrosion resistance.
CONSTITUTION: The steel strip R is fed to the electric welded pipe manufacturing apparatus 2, and is gradually formed into the pipe form by the forming rolls and idlers of the apparatus 2 from the first roll 21 to the sixth roll 22 of the final stage, etc., and an unifinished pipe Q0 is delivered from the sixth roll 22. The high frequency welder 23 heats the joint portion of this unfinished pipe Q0 for the purpose of welding, and the pipe Q0 is passed through the squeeze roll 24; hereby, the joint portion is welded and the seam welded pipe Q1 is obtained. The excess weld metal of the outer surface of the electric welded steel pipe P is ground by the bead grinder; and then, TIG welder is actuated to generate the arc across the electric welded steel pipe P and the torch 3a; hereby, the electric welded zone P1 and its neighborhood are heated to melt into a suitable depth. After that, this remolten zone is left for natural cooling.
