Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture the electric welded steel pipe which is superior in the groove corrosion resistance and has a uniform structure, by forming the steel strip into a cylindrical shape, permitting the rim portions to remain at both or one of side edge portions in the direction of breadth, and by electric seam welding both side edge portions being mutually joined.
CONSTITUTION: The steel strip R is fed from the uncoiler 1 to the manufacturing apparatus 2 for the electric welded steel pipe; this steel strip R is formed into a cylindrical shape by the forming rolls from the first roll of the first stage to the sixth roll 22 of the final stage, etc., and idlers arranged between individual forming rolls; hereby, an unfinished pipe body Q, in which the mutually joined portions of rim portions Ra, Ra are unwelded yet, is delivered from the sixth roll 22 of the final stage. The edge face of rim portions Ra, Ra, are formed into smooth face so as to be suitable for welding.
