Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a lightning-proof insulator, wherein the crack which will be formed when an insulator is calcined can be prevented by forming an intermediate calcined layer between a non-linear resistance and an insulator tube, the melting point of the calcined layer being lower than those of the non-linear resistance and the insulator tube.
CONSTITUTION: Between a non-linear resistance 5 comprising zinc oxide as its chief material and a porcelain bushing 2, both being arrester elements, is present an intermediate layer 9 of inorganic material having a lower melting point than those of the resistance 5 and the porcelain bushing 2, for example low-melting glass, antimony oxide, etc., all of them being calcined at from 1200°C, to 1300°C, or the resistance 5 which have been calcined previously being further calcined together with the porcelain bushing 2. Thus, when the calcination temperature is lowered the intermediate layer 9 can act to absorb the strain based on the difference of shrinks of the porcelain bushing 2 and the resistance 5 so that a lightning-proof insulator without no crack can be obtained.
