Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the title composition useful as a molding material of fibers, films, bottles, etc., having remarkably improved thermal characteristics, by blending a polyester-imide resin with a polyalkylene terephthalate resin.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 99.5W50 wt.% of a polyalkylene terephthalate resin having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.35W1.4 dl/g and composed of an acid component and a glycol component wherein at least 85 mol% of the acid component is terephthalic acid and at least 85 mol% of the glycol component is single alkylene glycol (esp. polyethylene terephthalate, etc., is kneaded with (B) 0.1W50 wt.%, pref. 0.5W30 wt.% of a polyester-imide resin having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.23W1.4 dl/g and having N-ethylene trimellitate of the formula as main recurring unit (≥80 mol%), by, e.g. a twin-cylinder mixer, usually at 270W310°C for 1W30 minutes.
