Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of variable frequency operation by applying ignition signals to the single phase inverter and on-off signals to a number of capacitor changeover switches in series to the motor auxiliary winding based on variable setting frequency from a controller.
CONSTITUTION: Ignition signals are applied to the single phase inverter INV from the controller CTL to set variable frequency and DC voltage is converted into the AC voltage of variable frequency. For example, the capacitors C1 and C2 with the changeover switches SW1 and SW2 are connected in series to the auxiliary winding Lx which is arranged at a right angle to the main winding lm of the capacitor motor and in parallel to the start and power factor improvement type capacitor C1 and the SW1 and SW2 on-off signals are applied from the controller CTL according to the ignition signals. The capacitor C2 and C3 are also connected in series to the auxiliary winding Lx and the capacitance value is varied. The switch on-off signal is not applied for fixed frequency operation and the start and power factor improvement type capacitor C1 is connected in series to the auxiliary winding Lx.
