PURPOSE:To enable to connect proper capacity of capacitors at every instant of the period from starting up to rated operational condition of a squirrel-cage induction motor by a method wherein the plural capacitors are made as possible to be changed over being connected in series, in parallel or in series-parallel. CONSTITUTION:A phase advancing capacitor circuit 6 to be connected in parallel with the squirrel-cage induction motor 3 is constituted of the plural capacitors 4a- 4c, and plural change-over switches 7a-7g to change over the capacitors 4a-4c being connected in series, in parallel or in series-parallel. Accordingly because proper capacity of the capacitors can be connected at every instant of the period from starting up to rated operational condition, power factor can be improved.
