Abstract
PURPOSE:To secure an accurate position measurement for the mobile object by calculating the position of the mobile object with use of the two position lines of the radio navigation system plus a position line of a satellite. CONSTITUTION:The position measurement system comprises stationary or synchronous satellite 1, mobile object 2 such as a ship or plane, ground station 3 plus omega stations 4a-4c. Object 2 receives the omega signal from the omega station and also transmits the distance measurement signal to station 3 from object 2 via satellite 1 as shown by the solid lines. Station 3 transmits in return the measurement signal to object 2 via satellite 1 as shown by the dotted lines. Thus, object 2 calculates the distance between it and satellite 1 and then measures the position of its own based on the data of the distance and the position. In such way, the position measurement is carried out with use of three position lines in a high accuracy and with reduced error.
