Abstract
PURPOSE: To carry out economical electrolysis of seawater, etc. with convenient safety supervision and considerably reduced electric power consumption by feeding the seawater to a plurality of electrolytic cells placed in series; separating a soln. contg. a large quantity of gas produced by electrolysis from intermediate steps; and concentrically releasing the produced gas in a degassing vessel.
CONSTITUTION: Pressurized seawater or salt water 1 is supplied to electrolytic cell A1, passed through cell A2 and liquid cyclone C1, and introduced into degassing vessel B through cell A3→cell A4→liquid cyclone C2→ cell A55→cell A6→liquid cyclone C3→cell A7→cell A8. During this time, seawater or salt water 1 is electrolyzed with DC supplied, forming a NaClO soln. On the other hand, gas such as H2 gas produced is separated from the soln. in cyclones C1, C2, C3 under press., and the gas-rich soln. is fed to vessel B or outflow pipe 2 of vessel B through degassing pipes 4,5,6 and resistances O1, O2, O3. The produced gas is then concentrically released 3 from the system in vessel 5, and the degassed NaClO soln. is injected 7 into the objective liquid.
