Abstract
PURPOSE: To manufacture the title alloy with superior resistance to wear, edge deformation and corrosion by using a cpd. of a simple hexagonal phase consisting of W, Mo, C, N and O as a hard phase and regulating the N and O contents of an alloy, to each specific range, obtd. by binding the hard phase with a specific amt. of an iron group metal.
CONSTITUTION: (Mo,W)C is heated at above 700°C in a N2 atmosphere of above Toor to induce carbonitriding reaction of Mo and W. In this case, H2 is regulated 300 to below twice as much as N2 by vol. When NH3 decomposition gas is used, it is required to be enriched with N2. In order to prepare O-contg. raw material, the atmosphere is heated to about 700°C in the presence of CO or CO2. The resulting cpd. (W,Mo)(C,N,O)Z as a hard phase is bound with 3W50 wt% of an iron group metal to obtain an alloy. In the alloy, the N and O contents are regulated to ranges of formulas I and II, respectively in relation to the alloy compsn.
