Abstract
PURPOSE: To easily recover gypsum of high quality while preventing an increase of scale in an absorption tower by returning a slurry contg. finely divided gypsum, to a SOx absorbing liquid, separated by the operation of removing water in recovering gypsum from the absorbing liquid to make the diameter of by-product gypsum larger.
CONSTITUTION: In absorption tower 6, exhaust gas 1 from cooling tower 2 is contacted to a lime absorbing liquid, forming CaSO3. A CaSO3-contg. slurry in absorption tower circulation tank 13 is fed to pH regulation vessel 17 through cooling tower circulation tank 5, and sulfuric acid 18 is added to unreacted lime to convert the lime into gypsum. The slurry is then supplied to oxidation unit 20, where compressed air 21 is fed to convert Ca(HSO3)2 into gypsum. A conc. slurry is separated from thickener 22 and fed to centrifugal separator 29 through tank 27 to recover by- product gypsum 30. The overflow of separator 29 and finely divided gypsum passed through a filter cloth are returned to tank 13 through effluent tank 31. On the other hand, the overflow of thickener 22 is recovered 10 through tank 24 and returned to tank 13. Thus, finely-divided gypsum in the water removing operaton is returned to the absorbing liquid to be used as seed crystals for crystallization of gypsum in the liquid.
