Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a dehumidifying material with superior strength and dehumidifying efficiency by impregnating through holes, with a hygroscopic material such as LiCl, made in a porous carrier obtd. by molding a ceramics-based material into a desired shape and calcining the molded material.
CONSTITUTION: A ceramics material such as cordierite is molded into a desired unit shape having many through holes, e.g. square, hexagonal, regular triangular or circular shape, followed kby calcination. The through holes made in the resulting porpous carrier are impregnated with a hygroscopic material such as LiCl or CaCl2 to obtain a desired dehumidifying material. Since this material has higher strength than conventional uncalcined refractories such as asbestos, it is applicable to air of higher temp. and press. In addn., it has superior durability and long service time, and it can be used repeatedly by heat regeneration.
