Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a gap-less arrester having excellent inpulse current durability, limiting voltage ratio property, and leakage current increasing ratio by adding salts or oxides of one or more of Ti, Sn, V, P, and Mo to a varister major component of which is ZnO.
CONSTITUTION: Adding 0.1 to 3.0 mol% of Bi2O3, 0.05 to 3.0 mol% of Co2O3, 0.05 to 3.0 mol% of MnO2, 0.1 to 5.0 mol% of Sb2O3, 0.02 to 3.0 mol% of Cr2O3, 0.05 to 5.0 mol% of SiO2, and 0.001 to 1.0 mol% of B2O3 to ZnO of main component, mixing with 0.01 to 5.0 mol% of one or more of Ti, Sn, V, P, and Mo, reduced to TiO2,SnO2, V2O5, P2O5 and MoO3, in the form of salt or oxide, and sintering at 1100°C to 1300°C. The varister comprises ZnO crystalline particles, spinel layers S, and particle boundary layer B, and multivalent metal ions of V2O5, LP2O5, and MoO3 dissolve in the particle boundary layer B to form a solid solution and strengthen the fine structure. Sn4+ substitutes for ions in the spinel layer to be effective.
