Abstract

PURPOSE: A surface treat liquid capable of forming crown compound coating layer, strongly adhesive to various substrate surfaces is provided. Such surface treat liquid contains polynuclear metal complex formed by combining a specific number of specific metal atoms to carboxyl group of crown compound carboxylic acid.
CONSTITUTION: In crown compound carboxylic acids represented by a general formula R(OOH)n, R is one of large heterocyclic compounds or derivatives thereof generally called crown, and n is an integer. To one carboxylic group of the crown compound carboxylic acid, two metal atoms having coordination number of 4 of more are combined to form a polynuclear metal complex. For example, to a basic metal salt formed by reaction of equal mole of Cr salt and alkali, a specific amount of crown compound carboxylic acid is added and reacted to easily provide a polynuclear metal complex. This metal complex is dissolved in solvent such as water or alcohol and diluted into 0.01 to 20 wt% solution. This solution is acidic, but can be adjusted to any pH adequate for use.
