Abstract

PURPOSE: Pipe internal surface is preliminary build up welded at near weld groove portion using a sepecified auxiliary welding material. The welded portion is subjected to solid solution treatment, and then butt welded by using the same auxiliary welding material. The welded portion is heated from the outside of the pipe periphery by high frequency to be again subjected to solid solution treatment. The process provides welded zone free of stress corrosion cracking.
CONSTITUTION: The butting portion of the pipe 4 internal surface is build up 5 welded using auxiliary welding material D309 Mo L resistant to stress corrosion cracking. Since the welding weakens the ends 6 of the welded area, it is restored by solid solution treatment. Then, the material is grooved 7, and butt welded using D309MoL. Since the as-welded D309 MoL has a tendency of brittlement, it is made into solid solution by high frequency heating from the outside of the pipe periphery. At this heating, the pipe internal is cooled by water thereby to provide welded joint resistant to stress corrosion cracking. The width 9 of the build up welding must be wider than heat affected zone on high frequency heating.
