Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the production of liquid crystal display cell easy and inexpensive and make its performance high by using epoxy acrylate base resins of more than 99% in purity as an orientation control film in the TN type liquid crystal display cell.
CONSTITUTION: An epoxy acrylate base resin which has two or more functional groups of the formula (R is H, CH3) in one molecule and is more than 99% in purity and a suitable photosensitizing agent are dissolved on an organic solvent. This solvent is evenly coated and dried on a glass substrate 1 having transparent conductive films 2. Next, the substrate 1 is radiated with ultraviolet rays through a mask and the uncured resin of the unexposed portions is washed away, after which the substrate is dried. The thin film of the resin having been formed is rubbed in one fixed direction, whereby the orientation control film 3 is completed. Two sheets of such substrates 1 are parallel disposed with the films 3 being opposed and are bonded by means of a sealing agent 5 such as epoxy base adhesive agent. Liquid crystal 4 is then held between these. Further polarizing plates 6 are disposed on both sides of this cell.
