Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Amylase inhibitor TAI-B. Elemental analysis: C 42.20%, H 6.47%, N 2.08%; molecular weight: about 650; [α]20D: +142° (c=0.5%, water); solubility: soluble in water and DMSO, slightly soluble in methanol, insoluble in ethanol; color reaction: positive to Molisch's reaction and anthrone reaction; pKa: 4.5 (in an aqueous solution), basic; appearance: white powder.
USE: Amylase inhibitor which suppresses the increase of the amount of glucose in blood, and is effective to an obesity, hyperlipemia, diabetes, a gastric ulcer, etc.
PROCESS: Streptomyces calvus var. TM-521 (FERM-P No.4283) belonging to Streptomyces genus, is cultured under aerobic conditions, to obtain TAI-B.
