Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the efficiency of power generation of a stored air type power generating system by providing same with means for heating compressed air stored in an air storage tank.
CONSTITUTION: A compressor 3 is driven by an electric motor 2 which is adapted to be actuated with surplus power. Compressed air is sent to an air storage tank 1 by way of a discharge line 4 to be stored therein. The stored compressed air is then delivered into a heat exchanger 12 by a circulating air blower 13. The heat exchanger 12 has a heat pipe cold junction 11 incorporated therein to which heat is transmitted that is collected to a heat pipe hot junction 10 by means of a sunlight collector device 9. The heated compressed air is sent back to the tank 1 by way of another circulating line 15 to raise the temperature of air in the tank 1. The compressed air at a thus raised temperature is delivered into a combustor 5 together with fuel so as to generate high pressure gas therein for actuating a turbine 6. Thus, a considerable amount of fuel consumption can be saved with this power generating system.
