Abstract

PURPOSE:A device for making foamed synthetic resins in which a plurality of means for adjusting gas flow rates are connected in parallel and adequately combined to control the gas flows whereby simply selective operation of valves permits the variation of gas-flow levels and foaming extent. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic synthetic resin is fed from hopper 16 into barrel 14 and extruded by screw 20 to crosshead 18 where conductor wire 1 is covered with the resin. Meanwhile the gas from supplier 28, whose pressure is controlled to P1 by first and second pressure-controlling valves 30, 34, is further adjusted to pressure P2 by device for setting gas flow 36 and injected from inlet 14 a into barrel 14 to expand the resin. The device for setting pressure 36 is composed of a plurality of means for setting gas flow rates a1, a2, ....an and valves S1, S2....Sn and the individual means is equipped with one of orifices whose sizes differ from each other. An adequate combination of these orifices sets an optional flow rate.
